Review: Sam Adams Octoberfest

Review: Sam Adams Octoberfest by Cody La Bière
I haven't had any Sam Adams in several months, so it was time to have some of their Octoberfest beer.

Sam Adams' beer is either hit or miss. They have some good beer (Latitude 48) and they have some bad beer (Blackberry Wit).

Appearance: Pours a nice amber colour, not much foam, kinda beige. Foam disappears quickly>

Aroma: Rich scent of caramel and I think.. pumpkin. It's a nice sweet aroma that is inviting, perhaps even for the picky beer drinker.

Taste: Like the aroma, it has a nice rich caramel taste. I'm not really noticing the pumpkin much. Pretty satisfying taste for a domestic.

Overall thoughts: Not bad, comes out to $2.06 before tax. It has an ABV of 5.5%. I knew what to expect out of this. Good for a domestic, but snobs may be a bit disappointed.

Coincidentally, I also tried a Sam Adams Octoberfest today. I very much agree with you on the caramel. Almost overpowering. Not so sure about the pumpkin though.

I didn't go into it knowing what an Oktoberfest should taste like, so I was very impressed.

I very much dislike pumpkin, so I can sense it from a mile away, so thankfully it's very only slightly subtle at best.

It's a respectable oktoberfest, I've only had 3-4 others before and they all tasted nearly like this one, but this is slightly sweeter than others
