Review: Evil Twin Modern IPA

From Evil Twin's website: This is a tasty tribute to a beloved and iconic beer style - the India Pale Ale. The style goes 200 years back - has been through every spectrum of the flavor palette and had it’s ups and downs on the IBU scale. This time around we re-created a contemporary style IPA - basically the taste of the perfect IPA right now. Understated hop flavors, fruity and crisp. The future is now. Brewed at Two Roads Brewing Co, CT. 6% ABV

Appearance: Pours a cloudy golden body with a good deal of carbonation in the body. Incredibly thick snow white head on top that diminishes after a good moment or five, surprisingly not leaving behind a lacing on the glass but still retains a whole finger worth of head.

Aroma: Surprisingly soapy for an IPA, that's the first thing I get, followed by a moderate floral presence, light caramel malt sweetness, lemon. Honestly it smells like a K-Mart or a non-fancy Target, it's weird, but it smells like a large retail store.. but not Walmart.

Taste: Leafy and kind of floral hop presence? Moderate amount of caramel sweetness, a tad hint of bubblegum. It's quite dry on the palate. Not overly tropical nor bitter.. though I get a slight hop tingling sensation at the end.

Overall Thoughts: Mehhhhhhh, don't care for it. I'd rather drink their Falco IPA.
