Review: Brazen Hall Haze Bomb Juicy Pale Ale

A good friend of mine invited me to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers season opener a month or so back. I've never been to a football game before but I'm quite a fan of live sports and beer. Well, it took me over a quarter and half of the game just to get A single beer, it was a gong show and then some. When I went to get the second and final beer of the game, I decided to walk a bit further to see if there were other options.. and there were! Brazen Hall had their own stand which was serving their beer (as well as Molson products unfortunately) and the cheapest food item in the entire stadium, a hamburger for five bucks.. a classic rink burger-style burger at that.. A classic. I do wish that IG Field/Blue Bombers did a much better job with advertising where food and beer was available by posting a map of the stadium. Well, the website lists concessions NOW but they certainly didn't a month back.

Well anywho, at the Brazen Hall stand they had a beer called Hazy Bomb Juicy Pale Ale, with a blue & gold appearance to it that you knew it was 100% made for the Blue Bombers games, so I was assuming this was going to be an exclusive to Bombers/Valour FC games. Thankfully it isn't as I found this beer at the Beer Boutique in Transcona. I really enjoyed the beer during the Bombers game so of course I have to review it now that I have my hands on a can. 5.3% ABV

Appearance: Cloudy and bright orange body with a moderate amount of carbonation in the body and a thick amount of snow white head on top. The head diminishes just a tad, not leaving behind much of a lacing on the glass.

Aroma: Floral, tropical and tad juicy. Sweet with notes of pineapple, lemon and a bit of a candy like presence as well, the candy being that chalky candy you would get in a necklace form as a kid.

Taste: Leafy and floral hop presence to it, a hint of pear and moderate tropical notes of pineapple, lemon and melon. Fairly dry on the palate, very smooth, slight yeasty and a bit of a sourdough aftertaste at the end.

Overall Thoughts: Solid choice of beer to watch while watching football or any sport really. Actually as I type this, my dad has the Steelers/Bills game on TV.

Lastly, for the two people who have noticed I haven't been around much lately: I had my laptop get serviced by the Apple Store in Winnipeg.. and they didn't do squat all to fix it, so that was a waste of my time and money but the serious upside is you got to see this review as well as a bunch of others coming in soon!
