Today's sampling is Brasserie Chimay 175 Blond. I thought I reviewed this beer, but I was thinking of Chimay 150 Green. Today's sampling is their 175 edition Blonde Ale. 6.5% ABV
From the bottle: Chimay 175 is a blond beer with character that perfectly combines refreshing spicy and florla notes, giving it a fine balance on the palate.
Appearance: Cloudy, golden straw body with a very thick amount of beige-ish foam on top that just won't give! Corked and caged.. this should be an interesting one.
Aroma: A Belgian spice presence, so we get coriander, lemon, a bit of graininess to it. The ale has a good amount of bubble gum aroma, banana, caramel, and yeah, the Belgian spices to it. Fairly smooth, slight citrus zestiness to the bite me in the nose - Smooth but definitely a Belgian Blonde ale.
Taste: It's got a Belgian presence to it that gives off a bit of.. well, a bit of honey sweetness, a bit of clove, a hint of honey, saltine cracker, a hint of pepper, slight bitterness at the end.
Overall Thoughts: Standardb Belgian Ale, but since it's in Manitoba.. it makes it 1000x more exciting for me!
