One of the last times I was in Moosomin, SK, I stopped at the CO-OP Liquor Store to pick up craft beer that I can't get an hour away in Brandon, MB. They had a decent selection of stuff I couldn't get back home but their actual craft selection was dwindling over time - as my prior visits to the store had more and more different Saskatchewan breweries/craft beer, but my most recent visit didn't even have any 9 Mile Legacy or Rebellion offerings available.
During that last visit, I picked up a package of Nokomis Craft Ales' 10 Hoppy Anniversary Wheat Ale. I still remember when Flatland BEER sent over a can of Hoppy 6 Anniversary Ale back in 2021 when I was pretty much living at my parents farm for the final time. Time sure flies by fast..
Appearance: Pours an opaque golden straw body that has a Belgian witbier or American Pale Ale - or both - kind of vibe to it. The beer has a thick amount of snow white head on top that diminishes gradually, a great amount of lacing as it's gradually savoured.
Aroma: Lots of floral hop profile to give off notes of grapefruit, melon, as well as a bit of a caramel malt presence to it, fairly sweet and has a slight bit of a Belgian witbier vibe to it - citrus, sweet, bit bready.
Overall Thoughts: I'm bad at this but I'd say this is a mashup of an American Pale Ale meets a Belgian Witbier - it's citrusy, sweet and has a great hop profile. I've been waiting for the right time to write this review as it's hard to find this very beer now, but it's no surprise as Nokomis is easily one of the top breweries on the prairies - I've never had a bad beer and I wished I could've visited the brewery back in the pre-COVID days..
