Review: Atypical Baby Lord Kölsch

Atypical Brewery & Barrel Works Baby Lord KölschOriginally written a long time ago but finally posted today.

Today's sampling is Atypical Brewery & Barrelworks' Baby Lord Kölsch from Minot, North Dakota all thanks to Eric! It's Oktoberfest time of year so it made sense to review a beer out of their own glass boot! Atypical is easily one of the most underrated breweries I've tried in the US, so if any of my American readers happen to be in North Dakota, I highly recommend a visit to Atypical, everything they do is done really well and at such a small scale but they are working on a larger brew system in the near future!

Baby Lord is a German-style Kölsch at 5.2% ABV

Appearance: Deep golden-to-amber body with a good amount of clarity to it. There's a bit of carbonation in the body while the head is a mild thickness of off-white foam to it. Decent carbonation in the body.

Aroma: Lots of caramel sweetness, a tad nutty, very aromatic with a bit of a rye bread profile to it, slight graininess. Grassy hop finish at the end.

Taste: Sweet and caramelly with a bit of a nuttiness to it, soft mouthfeel, a tad bit of a bitterness to it but mostly a grassy hop profile. A bit of a pear-like fruitiness to it and the aftertaste is a bit of the same.

Overall: Sweet Kolsch bith a bit of pear notes to it. Easy to drink, even out of a glass boot!
