Review: Two Roads & Twin Evil Two Evil Thirteen Months of Sun Hazy India Pale Ale Brewed With Teff & a Hint of Coffee

Here's another beer that I bought at Quality Beer Store in Winnipeg, especially one I didn't expect in Manitoba - A collab between Two Roads Brewing & Twin Evil Brewing for Two Evil Thirteen Months of Sun Hazy India Pale Ale Brewed With Teff & a Hint of Coffee (yeah that took a lot of breath to say). I've only had either Two Roads or Evil Twin a combined seven times in my life, but I've enjoyed pretty much everything I've had. 7.0% ABV

From the can: Thirteen Months of Sun is a collaboration with Evil Twin Brewing. Two Roads' head brewer, Phil Markowski, traveled to Ethiopia with Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø from Evil Twin where they met Henok Fentie from Sweden's Omnipollo Brewing to brew an IPA using Ethiopian ingredients including teff, a grain that was one of civilization's first cultivated crops ,and Ethiopian Sidamo coffee beans. The result is an original Ethiopian hazy IPA..

Appearance: Hazy and thick orange body with a thick amount of off-white head on top. Light carbonation in body, decent amount of lacing on glass.

Aroma: Citrusy, tropical and floral hops and wham... coffee! Weird combo but it works. It's tropical with a spiciness from the coffee-like presence to it. Tad bitter, but overall pretty tropical and leafy.

Taste: Decently tropical with notes of pineapple, lemon and orange peel. Theeeen there's a moderate amount of spiciness and a rich coffee like presence to it - that's a bit bitter, tingling the tongue and definitely gives it a breakfast worthy presence to it. Juicy/Coffee. Tingles the tongue and has a bit of an oaty aftertaste at the end.

Overall Thoughts: I remember the White Stout era of 2017, this isn't like it at all, this is different... this is a Hazy IPA with notes of coffee. It's not going to be for everyone but it works for me, a lot.
