Today's sampling is Pacifico Clara Cerveza out of Mexico. I had friends tell me that this beer was no longer available in Canada, but nope - it's very much still available in Manitoba. The last time I had Pacifico was at the Bucerias Flea Market while my dad and I were waiting for my mom to finish her shopping for "deals". It was crisp, easy to drink and was quite welcoming in the heat. Appearance: The beer pours a clean, very crisp, bright golden straw, and a a lot of carbonation in the body. While the head pours a good amount of thickness, quite frothy, snow white, and leaves behind a very healthy amount of lacing on the glass. This looks like what a classic lager should look like, from what I remember as a kid.
Aroma: Crisp, somewhat sweet, notes of corn, a lot of straw, and a bit of a honey-like sweetness.
Taste: This is your typical Mexican Cerveza - it's a crisp, light lager that has a straw presence to it, a slight corn taste, honey, grassy hops. It's quite smooth and easy to drink, and no skunkiness as they use brown bottles instead of clear or green.
Overall Thoughts: This is one of the few Mexican cervezas still being brewed in Mexico and not Edmonton or Chiliwack. It's solid, not wowing in any way - but it's a very versatile beer that deserves a view of a beach.
