Today's review comes much later than it should have been - Phillips Brewing's iOTA series of Non-Alcoholic beers/beverages have been around for a while now but today's sampling has been in my fridge for longer than I care to admit.Today's sampling is Phillips' iOTA Blasckberry Lemon Ale non-alcoholic beer. 0.5% ABV
Water, barley, hops, yeast, blackberry juice, natural flavour, sodium benzoate. 85 calories per 355mL can
Appearance: Deep red fruit juice cocktail kind of vibe to it, a bit of sediment but it's expected as this has been in my fridge for a long time. Minimal head with a light white hue to it, diminishes over time.
Aroma: Tart, sweet, notes of cranberry right from the beginning, followed by a lot of lemon, a tad bit of Blackberry, and lastly a bit of apple juice.
Taste: Deeeeee-cent. It's got a really flavourful fruitiness that's a combination of cranberry, Saskatoon, and Blackberry - a very much "prairie jam" kind vibe to it. Lots of lemon, it's got a very fruity "health beverage" or kumbucha kind of vibe to it but it isn't.
Overall Thoughts: Fruity, sweet, dark fruit - this could be a seltzer, a beer, or just about any other kind of style. It's easy to drink and the fruitiness comes out a lot in the taste. Pretty easy to drink.
