Review: Drekker BRAAAAAAAAINS Citrus Twist Double Fruit Smoothie Sour

Drekker BRAAAAAAAAINS Citrus Twist Double Fruit Smoothie SourToday's sampling comes from Fargo: Drekker Brewing's BRAAAAAAAAINS Citrus Twist Double Fruit Smoothie Sour. Double the lemon, lime, orange, pear, and apple plus we hit it with our double secret smoothie treatment of sea salt, lactose, and vanilla beans 5.8%

Appearance: Pours a deep, opaque and creamy orange juice-looking beverage with a minimal amount of white bubbles on top.. really not much foam.

Aroma: My first impression was that it had a bit of a chalky Halloween candy vibe to it (Rockets in Canada, Smarties in USA). Once I get past that it's very heavily creamy to the point that it's very much a smoothie.. but in beer form. Lots of fruitiness of orange, lemon, lime, pear and apple. There's a familiarity to it that I can't pick, oh wait.. it's vanilla! Very creamy and smells kind of healthy but you just know it's not at all!

Taste: Sour and very sweet. There's a Five Alive fruity/sourness to it. There's a heavy dose of lime right from the beginning, moderate amount of lemon, lots of OJ, a lot of creaminess and a moderate amount of vanilla at the end.

Overall Thoughts: This is 100% a sour for those who hate sours, like me! The downside is that there's probably an insane amount of calories in a beverage like this but this is tasty! Very fruit forward, creamy and notes of vanilla make it a full on smoothie with a slight tartness to it.
